George Colabella

Executive Director

For more than 40 years, George Colabella has dedicated his time, energy, and expertise to numerous charitable organizations. He is a firm believer in the role of the charitable sector in partnership with the philanthropic community. His belief in the generosity of donors guides his practices, and is highlighted in one of his professional articles, The Heart Leads The Way.

Mr. Colabella recently served as the development director for Ann’s Place in Danbury, building and expanding their individual, foundation, and corporate giving.  He has led the development for such organizations as Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, The Guidance Center, Northern Westchester Center for the Arts, Abbott House, and several others. He has a particular expertise in helping small to mid-sized organizations reach new levels of support. Mr. Colabella has a strong background in nonprofit management, and has led the strategic planning for such organizations as Batoto Yetu International Dance Company, Family Service Society of Yonkers, Careers For People With Disabilities, Federated Conservationists, and numerous others. George has taught nonprofit management in the Pace University MPA program.

George Colabella has become a recognized leader in the promotion of informed charitable giving. As a contributor to the professional guidebook, You and Your Nonprofit-Practical Advice and Tips, his chapter “It All Begins With The Donor” offers advice and guidance as to the importance of building relationships between donors and organizations in achieving a common goal. He is a frequent speaker on subject of philanthropy.

George received a B.A. in Psychology from Canisius College, and an M. A. in Developmental Psychology from Hunter College of C.U.N.Y.

George Colabella is also a published novelist, Hypnogogia — A Life of Dreams (©2011). He is also the author of the nonfiction book Taking It From The Top — One More Time (©2016).

George lives with his wife, Linn in Yonkers, New York.
