Three New Members Elected to Board of The Tiny Miracles Foundation

Three new board members have been elected to the 2005-06 Board of Directors for The Tiny Miracles Foundation, Inc. (TTMF), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping families with premature infants in Fairfield County.

As new Board members, New Canaan residents Eila Johnson and Eileen Thomas will spearhead public relations and corporate fundraising efforts, respectively. New Board member and Pound Ridge, NY resident, Kathy Konopka Streinger will oversee the introduction of parent support services into Norwalk Hospital's NICU (neonatal intensive care unit).

Ms. Johnson received her B.A. from Colgate University, and an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Ms. Johnson's work experience includes strategic marketing for Jefferies & Company, Inc., brand management and new product development for Kraft Foods, and launching a personal chef service, which later included an organic food product consultancy. Her son, Jack, was born at 32 weeks gestation.

Ms. Thomas received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and a M.B.A., with distinction, from the Wharton School of Business. She worked as a management consultant for McKinsey and Company in their Stamford, CT office. Most recently, Ms. Thomas served as Vice Chair of Women in Need, a $30 million agency operating shelters and recovery programs for homeless women and children in New York City, and has served on their board since 1997. Locally, Ms. Thomas is a deacon at the Congregational Church of New Canaan. Ms. Thomas has three children, Ian, Luke and Mary Grace. Her son, Ian, was born at 28 weeks gestation.

Ms. Streinger received her B.S. in Accounting from Fairfield University, obtained C.P.A. certification in New York State, received her Executive M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and attended the University of Bridgeport School of Law. Ms. Streinger's work experience includes structuring and negotiating large domestic and international joint ventures at GE Capital Corporate and serving as a Vice President in the Technology Group at GE Equity, where she invested in and served on the Boards of various software companies. Ms. Streinger was also the CFO and Acting General Manager of Rabbit Ears Productions and a Senior Auditor at Price Waterhouse in New York. She has a three-year-old daughter Maggie and twins, Michael and Gabrielle, born at 25 weeks gestation in 2003.

Gwen Noto of Fairfield and Meredith Daniels of Stamford founded TTMF in 2003, in response to the lack of support services geared towards parents coping with the crisis of a premature birth. The organization is now made up of dozens of local parents who have personally endured the trauma of a premature birth and who are available to mentor other parents during what is often described as one of the most frightening and difficult experiences of their lives. TTMF currently provides Parent Support Services in Stamford Hospital's NICU (neonatal intensive care unit), operates a web site (ttmf.org) with links to online resources, gives parents necessary, but hard to find, preemie-related supplies upon arrival and discharge from the NICU, and is in the process of setting up a financial assistance program for needy families. Plans are underway to expand Parent Support Services to Norwalk Hospital's NICU over the next year, and eventually to the other three Fairfield County NICUs as funding and resources permit.
