Celebrating Tiny Miracles: 2008 “Carnival of Life”

More than 150 families attended The Tiny Miracles Foundation’s 5th annual "Carnival of Life," held on Saturday September 21st, on a picture perfect day! The event was sponsored by Capital One Bank and also supported by many in kind supporters including Callari Auto Group, Gofer Ice Cream, Hands On Pottery and Sweet Rexie’s. The event raised over $30,000 to help support the programs of the organization.

The Dre Towey Band and Tom Weber had the kids singing and dancing. Darien’s Gofer Ice Cream donated ice cream for all, Sweet Rexie’s of Westport sponsored a plentiful all-the-kids-could-eat candy bar and Darien’s Hands On Pottery donated hundreds of ceramic hearts for children to paint, which will be given to area neonatal intensive care units to decorate incubators. Attendees also enjoyed a gourmet beachside barbeque, pony rides on the beach, face painting, old-fashioned carnival games and balloon creations by Patches the Clown.

Board member Ashley Dineen, of Darien, chaired the event. The foundation provides resource rooms, parent support programs, supplies and financial assistance to families with premature infants during and following their hospitalization in neonatal intensive care units at Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stamford Hospitals. TTMF operates these programs with the help of over 100 volunteers who know from personal experience, that the premature birth of a child can be an isolating, confusing and frightening ordeal. TTMF’s programs are designed to enhance the hospital’s psych-social support services and family centered care for these families during this fragile time. Their programs are available to all parents of premature babies in Fairfield County, free of charge.
