Person-to-Person Inc. and The Tiny Miracles Foundation were recently awarded grants in the amount of $5,000 and $10,000, respectively, from First County Bank Foundation.
“These are two terrific organizations based in Darien that need the community's financial support to help families and children. At First County Bank Foundation, we do what we can to support organizations like these because we feel they are an essential part of the social fabric that makes up Darien and its surrounding areas," said First County Bank Foundation Vice President Katherine Harris.
Person-to-Person is a volunteer driven, community-based agency that, through a sharing of goods and talents, responds to its neighbors who lack basic human necessities and resources to improve their lives. Person-to-Person provides rapid response assistance to client emergencies as well as access to interconnected services that support its clients' journey toward self-sufficiency. These services include practical help, problem solving, advocacy and education.
The Tiny Miracles Foundation is a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and assistance to families with premature infants in the greater Fairfield County area and to helping local hospitals and the medical community provide the best possible care for premature babies and their families. TTMF has grown to provide vital support services to families facing the crisis of premature birth through programs and services at three Fairfield County hospitals — Stamford, Norwalk and Bridgeport. TTMF remains the only community-based organization to provide comprehensive support for families of premature infants throughout the country.
Established in 2001 in honor of the bank's 150th anniversary, the First County Bank Foundation was created to distribute funds annually to non-profit organizations that support community and economic development for children and families. As a mutual bank with no shareholders, First County Bank considers contributions made by the foundation a means of paying dividends back to the local communities it serves. Through 2008, the foundation has been able to award 285 grants totaling $2.9 million to various community organizations.
