A Baby Nurse is a trained childcare provider who comes into your home to help you with the day-to-day care of your baby (or babies) when they first come home. Baby nurses generally work 24-hour days so they are on call at all times to care for the baby, but 8- and 12-hour shifts are also available through some agencies.
A Baby Nurse educates new parents on caring for their infant, helps establish a routine for the baby, and provides support for breastfeeding (or sterilizing and preparing bottles).
TTMF maintains a private list of baby nurses and doulas that have been recommended by families in the Fairfield County area who have had a premature baby
. This list can be obtained by the calling our office at (203) 202-9714, or if you are in Norwalk or Stamford hospitals, the nurses station has the list.
Below are a few baby nurse agencies some of us at The Tiny Miracles Foundation have used.
