Calling All Student Volunteers!

We were excited to meet you at the Darien High School Volunteer Fair! The Tiny Miracles Foundation can always use extra hands to help support families of premature babies in Fairfield County. If you want to help us, we have plenty of opportunities for volunteering within our organization. If and when, you would like to devote some volunteer hours to TTMF, just give us a call at 203-202-9714 and our volunteer coordinator Kelley Chapman can help you get started!

All volunteer hours will be documented by a letter from our office!!

Here are some ways you can help:

  • Event helpers: Twice a year we have big fundraisers. During these fundraisers, we always need helpers at the front door to check in guests, help with coats, and hand our goody bags at the end of the night.  You can be that smiling face that meets our supporters, so just let us know.
  • Blankets for Preemies: We provide the pre-cut fleece, and volunteers of all ages provide the hands-on no-sew blanket-making throughout the year. These precious blankets are necessary for the incubators to keep them dark, quiet and extra warm as well as a practical keepsakes for preemie families during their times of crisis. Please call our office if you would like to make some TTMF blankets.
  • Preemie Family Holiday Gifts: Many preemies are hospitalized during various holidays throughout the year. Volunteers may create holiday gift items for preemies, their parents and their siblings, that TTMF mentors can deliver to the hospitals on  Valentine's Day, the spring Holiday, Mother's/Father's Day and winter holiday. Such gifts may include decorated frames, gift bags, knit baby hats and booties, and donated baby items — whatever your hobbies, talents or interests, we can often accommodate a related gift! These gifts are deeply appreciated by both TTMF and the families of these very small and fragile babies who are suffering during the holidays.
  • Can you knit or sew?  We always need preemie size handmade booties, hats, and blankets for the tiny babies.  These special gifts are sometimes the only clothes that fit the babies while they are in the hospital, and when they first come home.  Parents feel better when they can dress their babies in something that actually fits their tiny bodies.  We have all the patterns, we just need your hands and talents!
  • Do you like working on the computer? We need help researching always!!  We need research for fundraising needs, and we need research to keep our web site up to date!  You can help us by researching Private and Community Foundation  For Grant Opportunities, Local Corporations Foundation For Grant Opportunities, educational materials and links to update our web information, recent breaking news for parents of preemies about development issues and new therapies and much more…
  • Do you like to babysit and entertain kids?  Help us at our kid events!  We have one family friendly fundraiser every Fall, and we always need helpers with the entertainment for the kids and working at booths!  We also may be helping a family with a very sick preemie baby,   who may need occasional babysitting help their other children while they care for their sick child.
  • Do you like packing and moving?  Once a year, we pack 1600 supply bags for the families we serve, and we need a lot of hands for this effort!  This is a 7 day event and a great way to do some volunteer hours.  Just call in and sign up to be a “Tiny Treasures” packer and mover!  We will let you know when and where the assembly line begins!
  • Do you like to raise money?  Raise money for TTMF you own way! Come up with a fundraising idea, plan it, have it and collect the funds!  We will support your efforts with whatever educational materials and speakers you need, to promote the cause, and our office will handle all the thanking of your donors with a special note from you!
